Nicola Mößner is a visiting professor (“Vertretungsprofessorin”) at the Institute of Philosophy, Leibniz University Hannover since 2022. She works on philosophy of science (especially open science, visualisations and scientific images, Ludwik Fleck, science communication), social epistemology (testimony, trust, expertise), picture theory, media philosophy.
She is author of Visual Representations in Science – Concept and Epistemology, London and New York: Routledge 2018.
She is editor (with Klaus Erlach) of Kalibrierung der Wissenschaft – Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung auf die wissenschaftliche Erkenntnis, Bielefeld: transcript 2022.
Contribution to SOCRATES
Nicola is interested in social dynamics in science and their influence on epistemic processes. In this context, she investigates epistemological questions related to the impact of information and communication technologies as well as the epistemic capacities of visual representations.
