Vita
Hannah Hilligardt is a philosopher of science who works on topics related to science and democracy, values in science and philosophy of climate science. To contribute to these debates, she combines resources from philosophy of science with resources from political philosophy. Hannah completed her PhD on “Science, Representation and Democratic Legitimacy” at the Leibniz University Hannover in May 2024 and is now working as a postdoc at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
Contribution to SOCRATES
In her time as associated member of SOCRATES, Hannah explored the relation between the democratic legitimacy of values in science and trust in science. She wrote a paper comparing the role of scientists to civil servants (Hilligardt 2024) and a book chapter on science and democracy for the forthcoming Routledge Handbook of Values and Science, co-authored with Torsten Wilholt.
