SOCRATES Workshop | Assessing Feasibility with Value-laden Models
The concept of feasibility plays an important role in discussions on alternative strategies for mitigating climate change. However, it raises several conceptual and methodological problems such as: What kind of evidence is relevant in feasibility assessment? Should value-judgments play a role in deciding what policies and policy targets are feasible and if so, how should the role of values be managed? Simon Hollnaicher’s book Assessing Feasibility with Value-Laden Models (J.B. Metzler, 2025) discusses such questions, as does the research of several SOCRATES fellows. This roundtable discussion brings together perspectives to feasibility.
