SOCRATES continues its journey in June 2024 by hosting two more workshops exploring diverse knowledge systems, models, and their relationship to trust in science. We kick off the first of the upcoming workshops, 'Models And Trust: Highlighting Issues Across Science', this Thursday, June 6th, with talks by Giovanni Valente (Politecnico di Milano), Soazig Le Bihan (University of Montana), Nick Huggett (University of Illinois, Chicago), Roman Frigg (London School of Economics), and Craig Callender (University of California, San Diego). The workshop will continue on Friday, June 7th, with input from Carl Hoefer (University of Barcelona), Eric Winsberg (University of South Florida; Cambridge University), and Quill Kukla (Georgetown University). The workshop is held in celebration of Mathias Frisch's big birthday this year.
The second workshop is titled 'Enabling Diverse Knowledges' and is a collaboration with the International Science Council (ISC), represented by Vivi Stavrou and Gustav Kessel. It is generously supported by the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau, represented by Krushil Watene and Marco Grix, and the Royal Society of New Zealand Te Apārangi. It brings together SOCRATES and indigenous scholars from across the globe for a full day of collaborative discussion and exchange.
The SOCRATES group is looking forward to welcoming you at these events!
