This landmark event fostered a collaborative engagement between experts from the University of Bern and Leibniz University Hannover and included selected scholars from other institutions, setting a solid foundation for future academic partnerships. The workshop convened leading philosophers of climate science, who engaged in in-depth discussions on the intersection of empirical evidence, ethical considerations, and communication strategies in the context of climate science.
A workshop format combining longer and shorter talks in four thematic sessions facilitated an exchange of innovative ideas and diverse perspectives, contributing to a nuanced understanding of the pressing issues facing the philosophy of climate science today. The event was not only a testament to the synergies between the two universities but also an exemplar of interdisciplinary collaboration. Both institutions expressed a strong commitment to continuing this dialogue, with plans already underway for a subsequent workshop aimed at deepening scholarly ties and further advancing the philosophy of climate science.
The SOCRATES group would like to thank all participants for their valued contributions to the workshop and the organising committee for the smooth running of the event.
