Vita

Emily Parke is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. Her main areas of research are the philosophy of science and philosophy of biology. Her recent work focuses on philosophical issues which arise in microbiology, astrobiology, origin of life research, and at the local interface of philosophy and science in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Contribution to SOCRATES

During her fellowship, Emily will work on several interconnected projects focused on the relationships amongst different knowledge systems in the context of marine management and ocean science; examining norms and values in conservation practices; and creating space for constructive dialogue across different knowledge systems. She also looks forward to the opportunity to learn from the other fellows and team at SOCRATES.
