Vita
Monika Berg holds a Ph.D. in political science and is currently an associate professor of sociology. She leads the Environmental Sociology Group at Örebro University, Sweden. A central theme in her research concerns the science–policy interface and the relationship between values and facts. Another key focus is institutional change and the conditions that shape institutional trust.
Contribution to SOCRATES
In her current work, Berg theorises the interconnections between measuring, managing, and governing ecosystems. During her stay at SOCRATES, she will engage in theoretical development to understand and analyse epistemic disputes and controversies in environmental governance. Her work illustrates that actors with vested interests strategically employ knowledge contestation and delegitimation to influence and control value priorities.
