Malvina Ongaro is a philosopher of risk at Politecnico di Milano. She obtained her PhD from the University of Eastern Piedmont, where she worked on decision-making under uncertainty. She holds an MSc in linguistics and cognitive studies from the University of Siena and an MSc in philosophy of science from LSE. She has held visiting positions at Rotterdam, Helsinki, and Stavanger. Currently, she is the P.I. of the project “SAFER,” which applies an interdisciplinary approach to natural risk management.
Contribution to SOCRATES
During her time in Hannover, Malvina Ongaro will conduct a review of the philosophical literature on decision processes and natural risks. This review will be enriched by the exchanges with people working on climate change, uncertainty, and models. She will present the advancements of her project, focusing on proposing a clear account of the concept of risk and on the interdisciplinary approach adopted.
