Vita

Jon Leefmann is a philosopher whose work lies at the intersection of the philosophy of science, social epistemology, and applied ethics. He received a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Tuebingen and has spent most of his postdoctoral career as a researcher and teaching associate at FAU Erlangen-Nuernberg, where he also led a research project on the epistemology of trust in scientific expert testimony.

Contribution to SOCRATES

At SOCRATES, Jon Leefmann will work on an account of public trust in science, significantly diverging from prevailing models. Specifically, he will explore the idea that public trust can be understood as a collective practice of managing and containing doubt toward agents and institutions on which we, individually or collectively, depend.
