Vita

Freek Oude Maatman is a philosopher of psychology, specializing in the intersection of theory, research design and validity. He currently works as a lecturer at Radboud University Nijmegen, and is a 4th year PhD student at the Radboud University and the University of Groningen, supervised by Jan Bransen, Jan-Willem Romeijn and Markus Eronen. Freek’s other research interests include the ontology of mental disorders, and applied causal inference in psychology.

Contribution to SOCRATES

During his time at SOCRATES, Freek will contribute to the overarching project “Credibility and Trust in the Psychological Science”, drawing on his background in psychology, philosophy of science and philosophy of mind. As personal projects, he will also work on conceptualization and concept extensions in psychology, and the role of positing extensions within scientific discovery.
