Vita
Fiona is broadly interested in how experts, especially scientists, make decisions and change their minds. She is Head of the History and Philosophy of Science Program at the University of Melbourne, and co-lead of the MetaMelb Research Group.
She studies methodological change - in particular, changes in statistical practices - in different scientific disciplines. She also develops structured elicitation methods to facilitate more reliable expert judgements in a variety of applied decision-making contexts, including environmental management and peer review.
Contribution to SOCRATES
Fiona will join the Credibility and Trust in Psychological Sciences project, led by Uljana Feest. She will contribute to discussions about the epistemic role of replication, and critically examine the uptake of statistical practices in psychology that have contributed to theory, measurement and reliability problems.
