Vita

LaRosa holds a PhD in Philosophy from Michigan State University. She specializes in stakeholder centered frameworks, designed to ensure emerging technologies promote equity, sustainability, and trust in their sociotechnical communities. Through fieldwork engagement as well as philosophical praxis, LaRosa has created the Curated Information Framework. LaRosa currently applies this to her work with the International Standards Organization (ISO) TC 347, focusing on balancing technical innovation with justifiable accountability. She emphasizes ethical, interdisciplinary approaches to technological adoption through stakeholder inclusion, embedding social values in governance, and normative reflection into current governance practices.

Contribution to SOCRATES

LaRosa’s contribution to the mission of SOCRATES continues to unfold. She is planning on taking her Curated Information Framework and designing stakeholder workshops to engage with how we might have justifiable and ethical AI use in news media. By integrating philosophy of science and applied AI ethics, this work contributes to SOCRATES’ mission of strengthening societal resilience through interdisciplinary research, with stakeholder engagement at the fore. Her current plan for her time at SOCRATES is to develop long-term goals and realizable outcomes for best media practices that are transparent, accountable, and aligned with democratic practices.
